Modstream player

Post by owienk »

hello Bernd,

last week I updated proppfrexx to version 4.0.3.84. Now after 6 pm the modstream player becomes active, but after the news it remains on "waiting". now 1 number of the playlist will be played first. after that the modstream becomes active. I have the text "waiting for available player slot" at the bottom of the modstream player. can you indicate what is going on here?

greeting, Otto Wienk.

I am not sure from which version you have upgraded, but there haven't been any changes recently in regards to the MODStream-Watcher.
But I will also check again...
But maybe you have also changed some of your settings, eg. take a look to the 'Start Delay Time' (in the general settings, section 'Streaming'). The MODStream-Watcher (when started by the command) waits this amount of time before it effectively starts.
Maybe this value is too high in your case and the News have already been played thru and the playlist started.
So in your case, set the MODStream's 'Start Delay Time' value eg. to a value so that it effectively starts when your News is still playing (eg. to 2 or 3 seconds).

Is this a question or a bug report?

If it is a bug report, please explain in more detail:
- how and where you start the MODSTREAM_WATCHER?
- what exact command you are using and where you are using it?
- How you schedule your Program and how you scheduler your News?
- Why and where you think, why the system should behave different; resp. what you expected with your existing setup

If it is question:
The indicated message comes up, in case you started the MODSTREAM_WATCHER with the 'startWithNextTrack' parameter set to true; which is similar to a 'Soft' start-type. Meaning, the Watcher waits, until the current track finishes playing.

So all you describe might be totally normal and it might just be a timing issue on when you start a Program resp. your News Overaly (if it is one) etc. - but that the Watcher waits until a current track finishes might be due to the 'startWithNextTrack' parameter.

the system worked as follows for the update:
- during the day until 6 pm the non-stop runs via the program scheduler.
- at 18.00 the news comes from the overlay scheduler.
- at 6 pm the modstream watcher is started by means of a reminder in the program scheduler.
- after the news, the modstream came live immediately.

in the Modstream watcher the 'startWithNextTrack' is indeed set to true.
in the old version the modstream came with this setting immediately after the news.
I have now set 'startWithNextTrack' to false for tonight and see if things are going well.

The 'start delay time' is set at 5 seconds. you also see that countdown. It ended well before the end of the news.

I'm not sure in which version proppfrexx was running.
If I look in the map below it seems to be version 4.0.3.11.

A new v4.0.4.1-beta is available, which fixes your issue.
Please use "Check for Beta-Versions..." to update (located under the blue question mark icon at the very top right).
