PFOA crashed out of the blue

Morning Bernd,

I just had PFOA sitting idle when a requester popped up informing me that PFOA had crashed and will be closed. When acknowledging that pop-up, the whole machine crashed into a BSOD (the error code of which I couldn’t note though, because it was gone too fast).

After rebooting I found the following system error log:

Code: Select all

Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: ProppFrexx ONAIR.exe, Version: 3.0.11.20, Zeitstempel: 0x50a659ae
Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: ntdll.dll, Version: 6.1.7601.17725, Zeitstempel: 0x4ec49b60
Ausnahmecode: 0xc0000005
Fehleroffset: 0x00047094
ID des fehlerhaften Prozesses: 0xf1c
Startzeit der fehlerhaften Anwendung: 0x01cdc889c6352421
Pfad der fehlerhaften Anwendung: C:\Program Files\radio42\ProppFrexx ONAIR\3.0\ProppFrexx ONAIR.exe
Pfad des fehlerhaften Moduls: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Berichtskennung: c8379f3f-35c7-11e2-a1ad-0016416b25ea
There was no corresponding entry in the PFOA error log.

Apart from the system drivers, the machine was running only PFOA, the virus scanner (Avira Free Antivirus; at that moment not actively doing anything), and an Explorer window.

I suspect this to be a Windows problem (Win7 SP1 x86), but I thought I’d report the error anyway.

Greetings

Sven

That indeed sounds weird.
Was may be a windows update running at that time?
Since a BSOD, normally only happens, if an internal driver crashes, a serious I/O error occurred or due to a real hardware failure (like an overheated motherbord, defect RAM etc.)

Afaics, Windows Update was not running at the time of the crash. I shall watch and see whether this happens again; perhaps it was just some kind of glitch.

Yes,
please monitor it.
As said, it sounds like an internal driver crash or a real hardware failure (like an overheated motherbord, defect RAM etc.)
