Internet settings changed

Post by Bumperke »

Hi Bernd.

The PF playout did have another IP adress and the router is also changed. How can we set the settings for local and distance again. No one is able to voicetrack anymore. Can you help us?

The ip was: tcpex://192.168.0.111:9042/ProppFrexxRemoteService
The new ip number of this computer is 213.125.2.2
What do we do to fix that problem?

I am not sure what you mean. ProppFrexx is not responsible for your internet setup nor can ProppFrexx change anything in your network.
So you must have changed something.
I am afraid, that I am not your network administrator.

However, the 192.... address seems to be your local IP address, which is only reachable within your local network.
The 213... address however seems to be your external IP address.
So if you want to reach a local PC from 'outside', you must configure your Router to forward the connection. This is called Port Forwarding. In your Router configure a forwarding of the port 9042 to your local IP 192...

The play out is still working but the ip from that computer changed. I get what you saying, but internally we are not able to connect. Same network. To be simple, if the IP from the computer changes, the tcpex address has to change as well?

Yes of course.
You need to specify the IP address of that PC. So if that changed, you need to specify the new IP address.

??? I don't understand what you are trying to say.
You said that the IP address of your PC in your network changed.
So in order to connect to this PC from another PC you need to specify the new IP address in the tcpex URL.

And that's the answer, but where? I presume in the menu, but where? Can you show me how to do that?
Thxs.

When you start the remote Voice Tracking session on the client you need to enter the tcpex URL. That's where you need to specify the new IP of the server PC.

Just to be sure you understand.
ProppFrexx does not specify an IP address of a PC.
Your network router assigns an IP address to the PC.
So if you try to change the IP address of your PC, then you can only do this in your network router.

Everything is oké now.
