Difference between PF extensions

Post by Bumperke »

Hi Bernd.

We are indexing our database and different extensions pop op.
Eg. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac.mp3.pfmd
Another folders shows: Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac.mp3.pfwf

What is the real deal?
I know that pfwf is the extra files where PF keeps all in-out, ramp etc info.
What is PFMD and do i need to save that as well?

.pfwf = waveform file (the graphical view)
.pfmd = metadata file (external meta data file)

Both are not created by default. But can be activate in the general settings to be created automatically. Or the.pfmd file might also be created manually.
See the general settings, section Meta Data/WaveForm.

Both files are not needed. As you can also save the extended meta data directly to the audio files TAG data.
And the wave form might also be created each time.
