PFL editor doesnt save Meta Data

Post by Thijmen » 05 Aug 2019 13:52

Hi all,

I am having issues with the PFL editor. Sometimes it doesnt save the META data.
I cannot reproduce it but here's what I am doing:

1.In a playlist, right mouse button on item in the playist (10th track for example. The track is not loaded in one of the players), and click the top item in the context menu: PFL.
2. The PFL player shows up. I press the 'Next' button to set the Next-track cue point. I see the Next-point in the waveform.
3. I press "Save Meta Data TAG".
4. Sometimes I get a notification bottom right, but sometimes I don't.
5. When I don't get the notification bottom right, it is edited in the playlist but not in new playlist items.

Am I doing something wrong?

Best regards,

Thijmen

Maybe your audio files Tag data structure is corrupt. If this is the case, ProppFrexx will/can not save any Tag data.

Hi Bernd,

Is there any way to debug this?

Something strange that I see: when I use the explorer in Proppfrexx and go to a track and edit the PFL it does persist. Yet, the track in the playlist doesn't use the cue points.

The track is placed in the playlist with a script. When I manually place the jingle in the playlist it does show the correct cue points with right mouse button -> PFL.

Note, that playlist meta data has priority.
See here for details: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11&p=19
Default order:
1. Playlist based meta data (.pfp)
2. Meta Data File (.pfmd)
3. Meta Data TAG (proppfrexx)

So maybe in our tests you did save the cue-points to the audio file [Meta Data TAG (proppfrexx)], but you used different cue-points in the playlist file?!

Hi Bernd,

It seems that it doesnt save in files (.pfmd) next to the file. Is this a setting that I need to enable?
EDIT: Enabled it in settings now. Trying to get it working - will get back to it :)

In my settings (Meta Data/WaveForm) I checked:
- "Use MetaData files"
- "Ignore older MetaData files"
- "MetaData has Priority".

Yet the script places a track with no 'next' cue-item in the waveform. I know for sure that that file has a 'pfmd'. I see it on my disk and in the file it has a correct cue-item for <next>. Am I doing something wrong?

Do I need to restart my scheduler or scripts after editing these items?

I wouldn’t enable the ‘Meta Data has Priority’ option, if not really needed! As it prevents the (Remote)VoiceTracking from working properly!

In addition note, that there are 2 buttons:
- Save MetaData TAG - this saved the TAG data to the audio file
- Save MetaData File - this saved the TAG data to the .pfmd file
I.e. you would need to click the latter in order use the .pfmd file.
However, I'd suggest to leave the default, which is 'MetaData has Priority' to off and not using the .pfmd files, but save the TAG data to the audio file directly.
