Attenuation when song changes during overlay

Post by polp6880 »

Hi all!

I currently have an overlay set to run on a specific time of day and I have attenuation turned on so whatever program/playlist is playing serves as a bed to the overlay as this just holds a recorded voice that is changed dynamically on a daily basis.

All is good there however I noticed today that if the current song reaches its end during the overlay, the next track that starts playing doesn't obey the attenuation rule and it starts playing at 0db. Is this normal behaviour? If so, is there perhaps another rule I can apply so the attenuation level is kept even when the song changes?

Thanks!

I just tested your case, but I am not able to reproduce it!
I.e. a playlist was playing; the overlay started with a track playing in DJPlayer A and continued while the playlist continued to play and switched to DJ Player B. And the DJ Player B started to play as attenuated as DJ Player A...
I even made another test choosing a longer Overlay track...so that it started with DJ Player A, over B and ended with DJ Player C.
All DJ Players played attenuated until the overlay stopped.

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for looking into this. It could have been just a one of case then. I know for sure it happened though as I manually had to go into the program track currently playing and manually slide the track volume down.

I'm gonna pay attention to this today and will report back.

Did it maybe happen while a program changes? And the new program was not already created when the overlay started?!
I.e. the new program/playlist was shown AFTER the overlay was already started?!
This is the only way I can think of, which is also by design, as the Overlay would attenuate all DJ Players of all open playlists.

This didn't happen anymore but with your latest comment, I think I know what actions I performed that might have triggered this behaviour.

I had the overlay playing already and the song playing in the background was just about to end in few seconds. I noticed that the song coming up next wasn't good so I just grabbed another song from the playlist and moved it further up so it becomes the next song to be played. When the first song ended and the player jumped to the next track (the one I moved up), it played at full volume.

Could this be the case?

No, not really. Changing track shouldn't effect this.

Thanks for your reply. I can't think of anything else I did at that point. I've been monitoring it for the past few days and it's been working as intended.
