Search workflow for music.

Post by DJSven » 13 May 2020 19:31

I currently proceeded as follows.

For different music shows that last about 2 hours, I have put together a playlist that is much longer.
I imported this playlist in the weekly planning using the script.
But now it is the case that the playlist always starts in the saved order and again and again. So always start with title 1.

I would like the function that he loads the playlist and continues where he left off the last time. And start all over again at the end of the playlist.

Or

When loading the playlist at least the playlist is randomly averaged.

I tried the Script Library function to prevent repeating the title. However, when I reload the script, I'm not sure that it won't start over. and it don't work.

I don't want to use Library because when I compose music I have to physically move the files on the hard drive.

Therefore the idea of creating playlists and running them as programs with random rotation over the script spread over the week.

Are there any thoughts and solutions? thanks in advance

Not sure how your script is looking like. But probably you used one script-line using the LoadPlaylist mode.
This mode is designed to exactly load that playlist in the order defined by it.

To do what you want to achieve, create a playlist based media library and use that playlist for it.
In you script you can now use the 'Sequential' mode and reference your related media lib with it.
It will now start at 1 pick the tracks....
Once the program is over it remembers the last picked track from that media lib and the next time the media lib is used, it will continue from there.

There is one complication. Typically when a program runs, the tracks are scheduled in advance (see the 'Look Ahead' option in the general settings). Those last tracks however might not be effectively be played out, because they are over-scheduled.

To also overcome this you create another script (which you then effectively use in your program) - let's call the initial Script 'Test1' and the new one Test2 (and specify LoopLine=2).
In this 2nd script you now define 2 script-lines:
1. Execute, Test1 (see picture below and specify 02:00:00)
2. Random, OtherLib
Schedue a Script at least for 2 hours.jpg
The Test1 script is like previously:
1. Sequential, YourLib

This 2nd script now does the following:
It executes the Test1 script so that up to 2 hours of tracks are picked from YourLib.
After that it loops the 2. script line to pick tracks randomly from another lib.
This ensures, that the over-scheduled tracks are only picked from the other lib.

Well, if you look to the Test output. You already see, that the 1st script-line could not find the referenced script. Or that you used a cyclic reference!

All prices are given here - you just pay the delta, if you already have a license.
If your Program starts hourly, just play the top of the hour jingle as your very first (initial) track!
I.e. split your 3 hour program into 3 programs and let them start Fixed ;-)

In my example above no.
If you start your new program for each hour (as explained), you don't even need an overlay.
Because:
- if the program starts Fixed at the full hour
- and the Initial Track defined in that script is the top-of-the-hour jingle
- it would logically play at the full hour
I.e. no overlay is needed.
