Microphone advice needed
Microphone advice needed
Hi all.
Does anyone has experience with this microphone? Do you think students can use this to train moderating of shows, will it be enough good for this purposes, etc.?

Re: Microphone advice needed
The link doesn’t work here (gets me to a starting page). But when it comes to microphones ordered from Thomann, the consensus seems to be that you should go for something along the lines of an SC-440, SC-450, or SC-1100. Available both with XLR connection for use on e.g. a mixer and (the SC-1100 not any more, as it seems) as a stand-alone USB version.
Re: Microphone advice needed
The MB88U Dual is an "ok" dynamic usb mic for the beginner on a tight budget. Sound is fair, though not brilliant, and in my ears too harsh, edgy. You can not use it without a stand and getting a damping element ("Spinne" / "spider") is very much advised since the MB88U is seriously prone to noises carried over the frame.

Thank you Adger! Hopefully it will work good with ProppFrexx and signal from microphone will be sufficient.

Re: Microphone advice needed
The volume won't be much of an issue with the integrated USB-amplifier. But be careful with the software induced gain, though.
Re: Microphone advice needed
Using software to add gain, to simulate a stronger input signal, can easily ruin a clean signal.
Re: Microphone advice needed
I see, but what else shall I do if the signal is weak and this is only USB mic?

Re: Microphone advice needed
If its only the Mic you might try a combo of an AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and a Compressor/Limiter.
