Heartbeat master/slave detection speed

If two instances of PF are used in master/slave config, and the master becomes unavailable, how quickly will the slave respond - for example to unmute a channel?

The heartbeat is checked approx. ever 1.5sec. - as such, in average a slave will take-over in around 750ms, but at max. after 1.5sec.
However, the direct communication between Remote Clients are instant (real-time), i.e. only the native network latency of a very few ms is in between.
