PF Crash (Same time each weekend??)

Post by Inzane8305 »

Hello Forum.

Our setup of PF: From sunday 16.00 til saturday 11.00 Playing Nonstop from a stream.

Saturday at 11.00 we have scheduled hourly shows with (almost) the same Script.

If the show is remotely VT'ed no problem.

But If done as a live show, disabling Autoplay at 11.04, Enabling Autoplay at 11.50 , PF crashes at 12.00. (Sometimes playing only the stationID from the next playlist.)

Question: Where do I find "the crash-report"?

We are using Stereotool to transmit the signal (UMPX) to the transmitter. Can that be the problem?

Kind Regards Kjeld, Samso Radio

When a ProppFrexx error occurs, ProppFrexx will write that exception to a file called “Error.log” - please see resp. send that file to me. It is contained in the ProppFrexx AppUserData folder, eg. %appdata%\radio42\ProppFrexx ONAIR\4.0

If there is no error contained in that file (at the time), it might be a system error caused by ProppFrexx, eg. ProppFrexx using a certain hardware device or device driver. Hard to say from here. But the Windows Event Log should contain more details. In any case, also take a look into the Windows Event Log, if that contains more details, it will contain more info about the error. Can you also please send that to me.

Hi Bernd.

PF error log shows nothing since august 7.
(But Overlay Log shows something:
07-08-2021 12:04:13: Advert Lib 'D:\NEWS' reloaded (True).
07-08-2021 12:04:13: Calendar 'D:\NEWS\Overlay.calendar' updated (last modified: 11-07-2021 10:13:45)
16-08-2021 08:57:38: Advert Lib 'D:\NEWS' reloaded (True).
16-08-2021 08:57:38: Calendar 'D:\NEWS\Overlay.calendar' updated (last modified: 16-08-2021 08:51:49)
21-08-2021 12:04:13: Advert Lib 'D:\NEWS' reloaded (True).
21-08-2021 12:04:13: Calendar 'D:\NEWS\Overlay.calendar' updated (last modified: 16-08-2021 08:51:49)
28-08-2021 12:04:37: Advert Lib 'D:\NEWS' reloaded (True).
28-08-2021 12:04:37: Calendar 'D:\NEWS\Overlay.calendar' updated (last modified: 16-08-2021 08:51:49)

Maybe this is the cause for the "problem"? I have now deleted that "News Category"

Windows Event log also contains event at those times as above. (august 28. at 12.04)

I will send a file to you containing 4 events.

No. These entries are normal info messages, that the overlay calendar has been updated and that your Advert Lib has been read in - these are positive info, indicating that no error occurred.

I’ll take a look to the Windows Events you send, to see if something indicates an error there - but it than looks like a Windows issue…

The Windows Event Log you send me reported no error or crash, but as Information a problem "AppHangB1" with ProppFrexx ONAIR resp. "ProppFrexx GPIOClient".

Unfortunately that event doesn't tell much about the reason, but very often occurs with problems of the graphics card. So check the driver for updates, use a different slot etc.
Other errors are related to other hardware defects or incorrect installments - when you have recently changed any config, try to revert this. Check your main memory for errors (e.g. using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool).
Finally you can check for any other driver or system updates - as else I would have no idea about the root reason.

But the error however is unfortunately an evidence, that it is not caused by a direct ProppFrexx malfunction; but actually cause, since ProppFrexx is using that 'defect' hardware or driver.

Driver is now updated to latest version. (It WAS very old, I think no update for 2 years)

Hopefully that fixes the problem.

Thanks for your time.
