Hi Bernd

Could a new starttype be added to fix this issue? Perhaps a new Start Type like "Dummy" or "Placeholder" could be added? Overlays with this Start Type will only be played back when referenced inside another script, but never by itself?

Thank you!

I will take a look. But the solution is not that simple so it will take some time.

While analyzing the feature, I figured, that it was already implemented (which I actually forgot - too many features already ;-)

You can set the Option "NeverUseThisOverlay".

This prevents, that this overlay is scheduled as well as being used in playlist templates.
I.e. you can define two Overlays at the same time. On 'AdverSlot' overlay with the 'NeverUseThisOverlay' option to which you (dynamically) assign slots and campaigns. And a 2nd Script overlay which references the first one, as explained above.

That should actually solve your use case. Sorry, that I forgot about this already existing feature...
