Mod stream from location

Post by Johan »

Bernd,

Am I correct in broadcasting from location to the studio with a simplified version of pf and this with a mod stream The enterprise version is present in the studio and is accessed from the location via a mod stream.
Now I have a DJ who works live from home in the same way. We pull in a mod stream in the studio.
But what if he is unable to attend for a day and, for example, has to work via vt at that time. Unless there is a mistake, I cannot place a program in the schedule and with mod stream and with vt at the same hour. correct?

it is possible to create a script where the modstream comes in, but in the absence of the DJ he can enter the same script. This is to save us the work of having to upload different scripts every time.

Thanks.

The MOD Stream Watcher and a Program/Script are not related to each other and as such can of course be used in parallel.
The MOD Stream feature is also not a simplyfied version of PF or a like. This feature checks in the background, if a stream is available and if yes, it might suspend a currently running program/playlist, connects to the stream and plays it in an extra MODStream Player window - once done, the program/playlist might be resumed.
If the stream is not available, the regular program script just continues.
It is explained e.g. here: viewtopic.php?p=212
Or take a look to the tutorial videos.

So yes, what you want to achieve is possible with this feature.
Note, that you can either trigger the related control-commands via extra scheduler entries (e.g. an extra Reminder entry) or with related program events.

Depending on your technical equipment yu might also use Audio of IP devices to stream from one location to another with lower latency. Note, that a streaming server typically introduces some seconds of delay.

Also note, that (Remote) VoiceTracking and Live Broadcasting from a remote location are also separate things!
With (Remote) Voice Tracking you voice over a show in advance and (remotely) create a playlist which will be onaired later in time (e.g. on the next day or a few hours/days later).
While for real line broadcasting, you either need to be directly in the studio (speaking live into the microphone) OR if you are in a remote location, you have to either stream your signal to the studio OR you do direct a Line-In feed. That Line-In feed might also be virtual audio cable which receives the signal digitally from another IP location in real-time. The delay depends on your solution in place, which also has nothing to do with ProppFrexx. PF just offers the connection possibilities, as a vitual AoIP connection is in essence just another audio device which you use. E.g. a mixer input channel.

So yes, ProppFrexx lets you plan and use this.
