The script history (as well as the global history) is NEVER actually cleared (see exceptions below).
The global history might be persisted globally (see general settings) when the application is closed - but a script history is by default not persisted globally.
So, that option (use the same file for both 'Archive' & 'Add. History') is basically there to persist a script history between two starts of the application!
Exception when the script history is cleared:
a) at startup of the application each script history is empty.
b) If the 'Clear History' option is checked, the script history is cleared with every load or reload of the script
Could there be a 'c' exception ?:
c) when a script is reloaded (from MediaLib)

In my General Settings -> Folders/Libraries -> Library Automation Options I've set reload libs every 1h, starting at 00:15 and checked 'also reload Script Libraries'.

Could this auto-reload empty Script Histories ?

Cheers,
Guy.

So if I understand you correctly, there is no need at first to give a 'Archive' nor a 'Add. History' file in order to activate Script History Checks
Correct!
I just have to set the 'Max. History' parameter greater than 0 and the Script History Checks automatically starts
Correct.
Shouldn't the played songs appear in this List
Yes it should indeed and here it does (I just tested it).
Is that really the script which is effectively running you are testing with?

As said and explained in my previous post: they are nowhere saved persistently - the only exist in memory as long as the program runs!
If you stop ProppFrexx and restart ProppFrexx the script history is empty!

Is there a control command, which can empty the history? I think, this would be the best way, wouldn´t be?

Erm, I'm not looking for a way to empty the Script History which PFOA does very well without me asking for it :-)

On the contrary I would like to understand how NOT to empty the Script History, or at least know all the possible causes of it so I can prevent it.

Cheers,
Guy.

But you must set a limit to your song history. Otherwise I think ProppFrexx would have a performance problem. At Settings => Scripts / Scheduler you can set a global song history. Limit is 9999. I recommend to work with the global song history.

@radio42
Thanks. Meanwhile I've deactivated the script auto-reload from the global preferences and indeed now everything works as expected, script histories are kept.

@meisterpropper
Yes, I'm already using the global history check, indeed.

Guy.

Library Automation Options I've set reload libs every 1h, starting at 00:15 and checked 'also reload Script Libraries'
Indeed, that could be the case! I'll double-check this...
And this might be even worse...assume, one of these scripts is currently running - in that case it will be reload and as such it will be reset.
So yes, this in definitely a bug and needs to be fixed:
a) a running script should not be reloaded automatically
b) the script history needs to be kept

I'll fix that in the next version - where a new script history is introduced anyhow!

See v3.0.13.0 (in 'News and Announcements') - this should solve all mentioned issues here, incl.:
- new script history options and processing (incl. archive logic)
- multi-select option for Random and Cartwall Libs
- automatic script reloading excludes running scripts
- option so select multiple libs in the Find window and save its result

Yes, excellent.

Really the last one (enhancement Find Window), is an awesome way to create new (static) categories from libs+filters. Really cool!

Thanks again!

Cheers,
Guy.
