Improved support for RDP/VNC use (Visual effects)

Post by Quentin D »

Hello,
After testing different radio automation software, my choice was finally ProppFrexx and I must say it's a great software, powerful, with a nice/clear UI!

I have a suggestion to improve performance of the UI and saving bandwidth when using RDP or VNC, it would be to add an option to disable all visual effects (mouseover buttons fading, etc (see attachment)) like windows effects :

The most visible thing happens when i open the scheduler : the window flashes for some ms and results in high bandwidth for some seconds with a blurry window (see attachment).
I already set the UI Performance to Slow in the General Settings.

Thank you

The "UI Performance" in the general settings just control the update frequency of certain visual elements (e.g. the peak level meters, WaveForm drawing etc.) - but has no impact on anything else, i.e. a RDP/VNC session.

The only possible option today is to select a more 'flat' skin (painting) style.
I see, that you might have choosen the 'Office 2010 Black' style or alike.
This skin style uses a lot of internal animations - which I can not control, as this is defined by the UI lib I am using.
So you might choose a skin style with less animations an a more flat layout in general - e.g. the default 'Metropolis Dark' is one of those.

I am afraid, that I guess I can not offer such option today; but I'll contact the UI lib vendor to see what is possible...

Thanks for the quick answer!
I already tested an other skin but it does the same result. The strange thing is the peak level meters and the waveforms are well handled on RDP session. The most annoying is the scheduler window loading...

BUT, don't worry, this is not a major problem ;)
