Custom Ribbon and Toolbar issues

As you can see in the screenshot i created a custom HFM ribbon and quick access toolbar. Although i copied the layout to all my defined users the ribbon and toolbar do not stick to the users if i login as another user.

Do i need to follow a special procedure or is this ribbon customization not working yet. You told me it's a problem in the 3rd party lib that you use. I noticed in the last update you mentioned the inclusion of a new ui lib version, but at least this part of the ui still has issues...

Is it not working at all or only because your manual copy operation is not working as you believe?

Problem is as follows:

1. I start PFOA and login as Admin
2. I go to 'Customize the Ribbon...'
3. I import my own customization file
4. I leave the customization dialogue

Now my custom ribbon is as i want it for all my users.

5. I go to Settings and Options -> Look and Feel and i uncheck the option 'Show Ribbon Category in Caption' (otherwise my quick access toolbar will not be visible)
6. Then i save the layout to all my users. (I get the message that the layout of selected users has been overwritten)
7. Click OK to leave the settings and options.

At this moment the original Main ribbon is visible again, but the tab is not selected

7. Click the Main tab and my custom ribbon becomes visible again.
8. Log out and login as another user.

My customizations are gone and i have to import my custom file again. The same thing happens after a restart of PFOA so it will not help if i import my custom file for every single user.

I just tried exactly the same here - but it was working perfectly fine.
- I customized the ribbon on one user, exported the customization
- Switched to another user, imported the customization
- Closed PF, restarted and all was fine incl. the customizations

Maybe something got corrupted during your tests and manual copy operations.
Try the following:
- close PF
- make a copy of your /4.0 AppUserData folder of PF
- go back to the original /4.0 AppUserData folder of PF
- delete all .ribbon and all .layout and all .toolbar files
- start PF again and login as Admin
- make some ribbon customization
- export the customization
- change the user to another one
- import the customization
- go back to your Admin user - the customization should still be there
- close PF
- restart PF
- login as your Admin user - the customization should still be there

I just tested it and it was working fine.

Hi Bernd,

I just did the test following your steps and upto step 11 (close PF) all works fine. I can switch between my Admin and my other user and the custom ribbon and custom quick access toolbar remain in place.

Unfortunately, after restarting PF the original toolbar and ribbon are visible again for both the Admin and the other user. At this moment i can ofcourse import my custom_RibbonSettings.xml file and the ribbon will change again, but the quick access toolbar remains the original, apparently my custom quick access toolbar was not saved at all.

One thing that is not standard in my setup: I start PF with the following commandline parameters -usbReg -config <local drive map> -globalconfig <network drive map> -streaming start -scheduler start -master

If i look in my local config map after the above steps i see the following new files:
ProppFrexx ONAIR.Playlist.Admin.toolbar
ProppFrexx ONAIR.Playlist.<other user>.toolbar

but no *.ribbon files which i would expect.

I also checked the original AppData folder, but that remains completely empty.

It looks like the customizations are not saved in my setup. This PF was installed in february and since then i updated with every available update upto the current version (including some beta versions). I'm afraid you are going to tell me now to do a complete reinstall with the current version....

The QuickAccessToolbar is simply modified by right-clicking onto any ribbon item and then selecting 'Add to QuickAccessToolbar' - I just teste that here again and it is working fine and it also restores fine here as well.
So I am really unsure how you are modifying things so that they do not work. Maybe a quick video or something like that will help me find your issue.

I will try your -config and -globalconfig thing next week - as I am busy over this weekend!

Hi Bernd,

I just remembered another setting that is probably of influence. In our setup i did not give the users the right to change their user settings.
I can probably find the time to make a screencast of my actions, i will post it later this weekend.

Then the users might not be able to change it by themselfs. But an admin might copy the layout via the user management..,
