Overlays Don't Play Slots

Post by PaskalG »

Hi Bernd,

I have seroius problems with the overlays. I have created all the partners and campaigns, also all the slots via Advert Pattern Wizard, creating my 32 daily breaks each day and assigning the campaigns to them (to let then assing a slot by day, f.e.: every monday at 8:15 and not everyday at 8:15) but when the time arrives, overlay player doesn't appear. The slots seem to be ok, because when I test them they play all, but only in the test button, when they should be played with the overlay player it doesn't appear and become cancelled by the program.

I've tried using an example script and not and advert slot and it works nice, but not with advert slot.

Also, I've tried to create an example slot and assign it to an overlay with the same hour, but it sometimes works, sometimes not.
I don't know what to do... I've tried everything. Even, I've thought that maybe the problem is to charge a slot with different hour on an overlay with another hour (f.e. slot A assigned at 13:15 and overlay scheduled at 20:45) I don't know if that's the problem, but even if it is, is not the only one i think, because the slot with same time than overlays neither plays.

Also, have another question about this: could an empty slot but with an opener track assigned be played playing only that opener track? Or maybe it doesn't play empty slots even if they have an opener track?

Thanks!

Yes empty slots will never play! If there is no advert track anywhere assigned to at least one used campaign.

Please send me your file called Overlay .log to take a look at.

It says I have no processed tracks, but I have tracks assigned to campaigns...

Ok, I think everything is ok but I'll check it this afternoon.

Just one question before. I have doubts about the assignment of the campaigns, I mean... I used the "assign" method in some campaigns and the dynamic overlay in other ones. Can I combine these ways as I did o should I assign all the campaigns with the same way?

And... If I Go to The Slot and I push The "test" button to play it and it works fine, play all the adverts and sounds ok, where could the problem be found?

Yes, you can combine the direct slot assignment with the dynamic overlay assignment.
Note, that the overlay assignment assigns a specific overlay occurrence and not an overlay in general!

When you 'Test the Slot' from within the Advert & News Management it might still be i) - but unlikely.
Also note, that you must specify a specific date AND a specific overlay at that date in order to get both (direct and dynamic assignments) resolved.

The best way to test is directly from within ProppFrexx ONAIR:
- open the Overlay Scheduler
- select your overlay occurrence to test
- right-click on it and select 'Test Overlay...'

If nothing helps, please ZIP you entire 'Advert Storage Path' folder incl. all sub-folders and send it to me to take a look at!

I tested all and the situation is the same.

a) Partners are active
b) Campaigns are active
c) Capaigns are assigned to the correct dates
.... etc

The FixPrice is set to 0,00€ and Max Playouts also set to 0 to let unlimited

The Slot Lenght and the Slot Max Lenght are both set to the maximum time limit

I send you the zip file and wait for your answer. I'll continue investigating trying to resolve the problem.

Which Overlays do not play anything?
Or do ALL overlays do not play anything?
Or do ONLY certain overlays do not play? If yes, which exactly?

I just made a quick test here on the "NACIONAL_mié_1840" slot/overlay: and that played perfectly fine here!
The "LOCAL_mié_1841" slot/overlay did not play, but that was correct as that one indeed had no campaigns assigned.

So please indicate which slots or overlays do not play correctly?!

So strange... here ANY overlay is played, NACIONAL/LOCAL... anyone

I've just created new test overlays manually with a test advert and it runs ok... so, the problem is in overlays/slots created with the advert wizzard?
Should I delete all overlays and create them again?

?? You say: here ANY overlay is played, NACIONAL/LOCAL... anyone ?
But you said: that they are NOT played? I am getting confused now?

But the Wizard is for sure not the issue (as here some of your items do play fine). The wizard just creates multiple overlays and slots for you automatically instead of manually, so there is absolutely no difference.
I guess it is more, that you did not assign the campaigns correctly...
