Encoder connection logs

Post by phonic »

With some software encoders it logs connection errors due to packet loss, etc, some more detailed than others, however I've noticed with the ProppFrexx built in encoders it still stays connected even though all is not fine, and can't find any option to view error logs.
How do I access the logs for the encoders?

The streaming encoders I am using don't have a log.
But I doubt, that they report okay, if it is not.

I will keep with my trusted encoders. I like my logs :)
Talking about logs, how do you generate reports with ProppFrexx for music licensing like in the UK PRS? I've looked at the stats app but unless I'm missing something it does not generate reports, and does not have all the needed information like total listener hours, etc.

The stats app allows you to generate only data available out of ProppFrexx. You can export this data to various formats incl. Excel.
Listener counts must come from other sources, eg. your Streaming Servers.
You might then nees to mix this manually.
An automatic UK PRS report is not part of the product.

ok, I thought it would include this as when adding streams to the inbuilt it also asks to enter admin login details so it's got full access to stats, this would not be needed if it's just encoding.

I will keep this out existing automation system for logging for the moment, as reports are so very important.

In the latest v4.0.5.17 update I also added the streaming total listener count to the Statistics viewer application.
Note, that it needs new data first in order to display/use it.

The total listener count is available as the macro ${streamingtotallisteners}.
E.g. you can use this macro in your Playlist or Global log file - see general settings, section Logging/History.
By doing so you can create your own text log file containing all the data you need - I assume.

Still I didn't include any country specific regulatory logs by default.
Also note, that for many broadcasters the configured total listener count might only reflect the main source streaming server, while they might also use various other relay-servers in the background.

The TotalListenerCount will also be added to the statistics in a next version.
