2 studio setup - syncing both workstations
2 studio setup - syncing both workstations
Hi Berndt,
We have made the purchase and starting to set up. We have questions about how to set up multiple workstations. Here is our current conditions:
(Main) Studio A - this computer will be the actual streaming computer connected to the servers. The ON AIR computer.
(Production) Studio B - this computer is where the following weekly maintenance tasks will be performed:
a. changes to current music folder(s)
b. segments loaded (in folders) for all weekly pre recorded programs.
The above maintenance is performed in folders OUTSIDE of proppfrexx so we would set up a local network enabling a single shared folder (music, sweeps, promos, adverts, show parts, etc) that can be accessed by both (main & production) instances of proppfrexx, correct?
Question 1: If we were to make a programming change inside proppfrexx (script, scheduler, etc), is there a way for the 2 studios to be synced so that a script change made in PRODUCTION studio (B) would also be reflected in the same script in the MAIN studio (A)?
Basically need to know best practice for syncing 2 machines.
Question 2: Will the secondary (PRODUCTION) studio always have to work in the demo mode with the beeps and 3 hour limitation? It is not streaming "ON AIR" but would act as a workstation & temporary back up if the Main Studio computer failed.
Thank you for any clarity on these questions.
Best regards,
Derek

Re: 2 studio setup - syncing both workstations
First note, that this Forum is un-monitored and typical for general radio questions and not ProppFrexx related questions. So consider using the special "Q & A" forum. However...
Yes, you would need a shared network folder, e.g. you use a folder structure on the Main Studio and share that with the Production Studio - but you can also use a dedicated professional file server or NAS.
As in ProppFrexx all folders are configurable, you can configures both Studios to use exactly the same folders for the music, media libs, script libs and scheduler calendars.
If you made changed e.g. in the script-libs on one PC, simply reload them on the 2nd PC - this can even be done automatically for the media and script libs. The schedulers are always automatically reloaded.
In addition you might consider using a Media Library Server (which comes free of charge with the system), see here for details:

The 2nd Production Studio of course needs a 2nd license - as stated on our web-site a license is required for each PC/seat or instance!
