Overlay supressed or not when not specific selected.

Post by AFM-Radio »

Hi,
in our script that we use we have 2 embedded containers as overlay. 1 for commercials and 1 for headlines and both about the half of the hour.
Now I understand that these selected overlays are suppressed, to prevent a double play out.
But on the hour between the program change, we have news and commercials as a normal overlay. Is this also suppressed or only the selected overlays in the script?
Programs last an hour. Every hour again.

regards
Jesper

If you add an embedded overlay container to a script being used in a program, all regular scheduled overlays are suppresses within the time range of that program. This is an all or nothing policy.

So it all depends on your timing. If the start time of the next hourly scheduled overlay is after the previous program and your next program (playlist) doesn’t contain an embedded overlay, this one will be played and not suppressed.
If the new program script however again schedules an embedded overlay container, it will also be suppressed.

BUT! you can set an overlay option called ForceUsageNeverSuppress!
If that option is set, the overlay is never suppressed.
So I recommend to use that option for your hourly Overlays. ;-)

OK! I will set this option on the hourly overlays and try it out! Thanks for the info!
