Artists repetition

Post by claudius06 »

Hi Bernd, I'm having an issue with artist repetition.

I have around 2000 tracks for now, including some artists that are much more present than others. Currently, for example, The Beatles come back several times an hour (but with different tracks). In the scripts, I created a script in Sequential mode with a Max.history of 2000 but for each type of music, I'm a bit lost in the options (SuppressHistoryCheck, SuppressAdHistory, etc...). I tried to set the Script History Options by separating the same artist by 20 tracks or 1h30, but the result is the same.
Could you tell me what mistake I might have made and how to avoid this problem?

In addition, still regarding the Script Library Editor window, I noticed that you should especially not launch a test because the system does not stop anymore and it is impossible to stop it or even to leave it. Is this a bug?

Thank you for your help,
Claude.

First check the Tutorial Video "The History settings, do not repeat... (english)" here: https://www.proppfrexx.radio42.com/foru ... php?t=1018

Of course do not 'SuppressHistoryCheck'.
Increasing the History size typically doesn't seperate the Artists.
Use the 'LeastRecentlyPlayed' script-line mode (instead of Random).
Then set the Global History Settings in the general settings and try with something like in the picture:
E.g.
- Global Song History = 100 (size)
- Artist = 25 (size), e.g. do not repeat the same Artist in the last 25 tracks

Thank you Bernd, I watched the video and followed your advice, and it's much better now. But while watching your video, I began to wonder if, to build a script for creating a playlist, it's better to have multiple libraries with different styles (Rock, Pop-Rock, Down tempo, Fast tempo...) OR one single library with each entry having filters defining the styles. Both work, of course, but in your opinion, which approach is preferred?

I personally have multiple playlists. Some of them even have a reference to the same audio file. Eg. the same file might be present in a HotRotation lib as well as in a MidTempo playlist.
