How to create a Library from a search ?
Hello Bernd,
Is it possible to create a Library from a search?
I mean, my global music library contains between 7,500 and 8,000 tracks. I would like to create sub-libraries (folders) of different genres without having to select them one by one, but using my tags.
How can I do this?
And for tracks that are in two different folders, would you advise me to keep them in both or delete them from one of them?
I saw this video "Media Libraries (english)" but I couldn't find the answer.
Thank you for your help.
Claude.

Do you still want to keep all tracks in different folders?
Or have you thought about having playlist based media libs, ie. logical media libs?
When using playlist based media libs, you can simply select and copy those entries logically to a new playlist and save this playlist and finally use this playlist as a media lib.
Else you must reorganize your folders. Almost same procedure as above. You create a new playlist copy your selected tracks to it and instead of saving this playlist you select all tracks and the right-click and select Selection -> Cooy To Folder…
This will physically copy the tracks to a new folder. This folder can then be used as a new media lib.

Re: How to create a Library from a search ?
Thank you for your reply.
I understand the idea of playlists, but is it possible to create one, for example, by doing a simple sort, e.g. all the hits from the 80s (which is likely to result in a large number of tracks)?

Re: How to create a Library from a search ?
Yes, you can for example perform a search in the Find window and then use the tracks in the result and add them to your playlist.
Or you can even create a script and run the script in a playlist. The script can filter tracks from your lib…

Re: How to create a Library from a search ?
This is exactly what I wanted to do, but I couldn't find a way to select all the titles to copy them into a new folder.Yes, you can for example perform a search in the Find window and then use the tracks in the result and add them to your playlist.
Without any limit of tracks ?Or you can even create a script and run the script in a playlist. The script can filter tracks from your lib…

You define the number of tracks script.
In the Find window you can set your own limit.
