Initial track in Program sometimes cuts off

Post by Thijmen »

Hi Bernd,

I am using an Initial Track for my programs, namely my news bulletin. As the length varies from hour to hour, Proppfrexx sometimes plays the audio too short.
Last night it was just 25 seconds, while the actual length of the media file was way longer! Is this a bug or is this some setting that I am missing?

By the way: when I moved the file to the playlist manually it did show the correct length. Unsure what is happening here.

I looked in the logs of that playlist and time, and this showed:
24.661, 25
As ${durationsec}, ${effectivesec} as Log File Entry. While I open the file in Proppfrexx, it shows 1 min 37!

How did you play the song?
Maybe the track was not refreshed correctly when you planned it.
EG. you planned it with a short news track. And after the news track was in the background xchanged by a longer file with the same name etc.
as such ProppFrexx still ‚thinks‘ it is the old and shott er version.
But as I don’t know how you plan and play that initial track, I can not really say.
Maybe your have to set the ‚RecalcACPD‘ option with that track.

See here, sounds like a similar issue:

Hi Bernd,

I play it like this. As this file gets refreshed (every hour, xx:56), and my playlist at the full hour, I dont think the file gets changed while the playlist is open already.

I can also see that the file gets changed (probably by Proppfrexx) at exactly the whole hour, so not xx:56.
Is there anything else that you can recommend?

Ofcourse, I can edit the TAGS in Proppfrexx but those will be gone after the file gets overwritten, no?

Correct. But your issue is the same as described in the link I provided. Have you read it?

The track is evaluated when it is loaded to a DJ Player. Also make sure, that you don’t save any .pfmd file with it!

Yes, I read that. I don't see how my issue is the same, ACPD is disabled as per documentation for initial tracks!

I know 100% sure that the WAV file is downloaded before the playlist is being loaded and being loaded into the player.

No, ACPD is disabled for the initial track - but even as it is enabled, it will not cut off a track by 20 sec. or more.

I.e. if the track is fully replaced by a new track (in advance to loading the track to a DJ Player) and you are NOT using and having any .pfmd file and that track does not already contain incorrect cue-points in its TAG data - then it can not be cut off.
I just tried that here several times and can not reproduce your issue.

In other words, only one of the following can cause the issue:
- the 'old' track is loaded in advance to a DJ player and the track is replaced in the background afterwards
- the is a related .pfmd file existing with incorrect cue-points
- the new file somehow contains incorrect cue-points in its TAG data

If you can reproduce the issue with a specific news file - please send that over to investigate that here.

Hi Bernd,

Is the documentation incorrect? See attached screenshot.

When it occurs again, I will find some ways to get it reproduced - otherwise it's undoable for you.
