audio editor

in the configuration there is an option to specify the location of an audio editor, which i assume is for the editing of voice tracks etc, however i don't see a right click ot other option when selecting a voice track to actually edit it. Have i overlooked it?

No, with this option you might execute an external audio editor, which excepts the location of the file as a parameter.
If given you might press ALT+Enter in any playlist or media entry location to invoke that editor.
The related media entry filename will simply be passed as the argument to that editor.
This allows immediate offline editing.
