Migration from mAirlist

Post by 789 FM »

Hello

We are looking to migrate away from mAirlist to ProppFrexx ONAIR. We have some questions about this switch and want to make sure we make the right decision and check if ProppFrexx is suitable for our radio station.

Central database management

We have a few people at the station managing our mAirlist database remotely (editing metadata of tracks, moving tracks into the correct folder, adding cue points). We do this by configuring a centralised database server that gets a static IP address and is accessible from anywhere remotely. We can enter this single database URL into a mAirlist instance and all folders, playlists and categories are available instantly. Is this something that is possible in ProppFrexx?

Remote Voice Tracking database

We have around 12-15 people actively Voice Tracking every week. Each user has access to the database and can drag in their jingles & search tracks in the database to insert them in the playlist. They can manage their own jingles but we provide them remotely for each Voice Tracking user. Is this possible in ProppFrexx? Is there a VoiceTrack license we can provide for them and can we easily manage those licenses (set expiration date, move license to a new user, ...)

Automatic database import

We have defined a folder in mAirlist where our music provider can upload songs we request from them. mAirlist has an option to automatically move these files into the database directory and import them in the database. We can then automatically export changes to the database as a CSV, which is be imported by Music Master. One of our music schedulers can then add cue points remotely from their computer.
This is a very efficient workflow. Can we do this in ProppFrexx as well?

MusicMaster integration

In mAirlist we are using TPI files for every day to export generated logs from MusicMaster into the mAirlist database. These contain a column for the time and a column for the internal database id. Is a flow like this possible to import playlists from MusicMaster

Thank you for all your answers to our questions and we hope to be able to make the switch to ProppFrexx soon.

ProppFrexx is not using any (central) Database. All is folder and file based with ProppFrexx.
So if all people have access to those folders and files, eg. via a shared network.

Remote Voice Tracking is fully possible. But you need to provide your users with access to the additional audio files yourself. By default all playlist tracks are made remotely available, eg. as compressed files or as original files. If they want to add tracks, they can do this. But the same rules apply as above. The users need access to those shared folders and files. This is your network responsibility, as ProppFrexx doesn’t use an database.

License management is fully handled on my side. Ie. you can not change or transfer licenses yourself. For every license change I need to information about the old and new registration data from you.
But I assume, that your team is stable and not permanently changing.

ProppFrexx has no automatic database import - as it is not using one. As soon as tracks are available in a folder, they might be available in ProppFrexx.
The MusicMaster sync is on your side.

ProppFrexx can import MusicMaster log files (not Nexus). So this should be fully possible.
